Ostia Antica

This private tour focuses on the importance of Ostia during the Roman Empire. During the VII century, the fourth king of Rome, Anco Marzio, founded Ostia. Ostia represents the perfect example of Roman city, and its structure can still today be observed. It is mainly divided into 4 areas: residential, cultural, temples, and baths. Your experienced driver/guide will knowledgably convey the daily activities carried out by the ordinary citizens of Ostia (the working class), most of them linked to commerce coming from other Mediterranean countries and then directed towards Rome along the Tiber. The last part of the visit will be devoted to the role Ostia played during and after World War II.
